Playing Catch-Up!

So, because I can't read, I didn't realize that Mommy had gotten so far behind in my blog! I hope this doesn't become a pattern.

I have to say though - I've been pretty busy... Last Wednesday, we took a Mommy & Me Yoga and massage class with Pam and Morgan - I loved it! I was cooing a lot, and felt so comfortable that I peed twice, pooped, and spit up on my blanket. We had to be naked for the class (um, just me - not Mommy!), and I guess I really liked being "aired out"!

Throughout the week, we had plans with Stacey and Braden, went out to dinner for the Early Bird Special with the McWhorters (Jack's parents are strict - he isn't allowed to stay up as late as I am), went to have lunch at Cory and Emme's house, and I met Mara and Elliot (they got me a beautiful gold bracelet like the one Mommy had when she was a baby)...

Daddy took off work on Monday for my two-month appointment. I weigh 10lbs., 8 oz and am 22 inches long... Dr. LePage said that I'm in the 50th percentile for height, weight and head circumference. I got a bunch of shots and did NOT like them at all! I cried a lot (real tears for the first time!), and Mommy and Daddy cried a little too.

Yesterday, Mommy and I did the Stroller Strides class at the mall and it kicked Mommy's butt! I guess that's what happens when you work out for the first time in almost a year... I was so tired just watching her run around and stretch and strain that I slept through just about the whole thing... PHEW!

The best part of this week though has been that I decided to start smiling for Mommy and Daddy and I'm "talking" a lot more too! I had a whole conversation tonight with the birdies on my swing. Mommy and Daddy will do the silliest things for a long, long time if they think it will make me smile for them again (if they do it long enough, I usually do)... It seems to make them very happy.

Busy Little Bee

This morning, I had Mommy pretty exhausted and Daddy took some pictures of us with his phone before he left for work... Daddy's been pretty overtired and over-worked too, so Mommy and me and Oscar sent him some fancy cookies at work to cheer him up... Cookies always make my Daddy smile!

Yesterday, Mommy and I went to lunch on Greenwich Ave. with Stacy and Braden, and did a little shopping. Mommy was very, very excited because she bought her first pair of non-maternity jeans since she had me... I insisted on having lunch at the exact moment her salad arrived, so Mommy learned that she can eat pretty well with her left hand (none of it landed on me)!

Today, we travelled to New Jersey to visit Aunt Rachel and Ayla, but Ayla took the world's longest nap so I only saw her for a little while... On the bright side, Aunt Rachel got to hold me for a long time and I even took a little nap on her! Usually Ayla gets a little bit jealous when her mommy holds babies. When she woke up, we both had some milk (though from very different containers!).

Pediatrician Pandemonium!

This morning, Mommy took me to the pediatrician to check out a little lump I had on the back of my head (it was just a swollen lymph node - I'm okay). Before we went, Mommy was rushing to change me so we could get to the doctor and I spit up my entire breakfast all over the the clean outfit she had just put on me! As it turned out, I had a little bit more breakfast left after she undressed me and so she had to give me a quick quasi-bath before getting me dressed (again)! I gave Mommy a HUGE smiley show right afterwards, so I think that made it all worth it...

When we got to the doctor, I had a dirty diaper. I had to be naked when they weighed me (double-digits, I'm TEN pounds now!), and when Mommy put me on the examination table and grabbed a clean diaper, I had already left a HUGE wet spot where I peed all over the table! As soon as she put the clean diaper on me, I started peeing again! Mommy put another diaper on me and I managed to stay clean until the doctor came in.

I was really well-behaved while the doctor was examining me, but when she turned me over to look at the spot Mommy was concerned about, I spit up all over the examination table! When she turned me back over, I pooped REALLY loudly in my diaper. Mommy was on the last diaper in her diaper bag and keeping her fingers crossed that I stayed clean during her New Mother's Group which was right after the doctor's visit.

She had to borrow one from her friend Jenna about a half hour after we got there. Tee hee!

(Mommy and) I Made A New Friend!

Today, I met Emme (and her mommy, Cory)... Emme is only two days older than me! I've never met anyone whose birthday was so close to mine... Mommy and Cory had been "introduced" by Mommy's friend Nicki and Cory's friend Tara. Cory and Emme came over for lunch this afternoon and we had a lot of fun! Emme brought me the coolest "sneaker-socks" and Cory brought cookies for Mommy. Everyone was very happy!

Emme and I were very cooperative and slept the whole time our mommies were having lunch (yummy Chinese food), and then we hung out for a little while longer while Mommy and Cory got to know each other. Emme is super cute and she has really pretty eyes. She was so well-behaved and seemed to really like my bouncy seat! Before they left, Emme and I posed for a few pictures... I hope we get to have more playdates with them soon!

Exercising (Mommy's) 19th Amendment Rights!

Yesterday, Mommy and I went to vote for the 44th President. I was very excited. She put me in my Baby Bjorn and went to her polling place (which is conveniently located just a block from home)... While we were there, we saw Titi Eva, Uncle Mike, and Uncle Joey waiting to vote too... Daddy went in the morning before work and warned us about long lines, so we were prepared for a long wait (I had JUST been fed and had on a nice, clean diaper). When the nice lady at the polling station saw me, she brought Mommy to the front of the line so we didn't ahve to wait since I'm so little. Uncle Mike asked if Mommy could pass me around when she was done voting so he didn't ahve to wait in line either... Tee hee!

I Found My Thumb!

Today, while Mommy was holding me, she looked down and I was sucking my thumb! I had put my hands near my mouth a few times in the past week or so, but today I had a purpose!! I sucked my thumb for a few minutes, took it out of my mouth for a minute or so, then put it back in for a while longer...it was yummy! Mommy sucked her thumb when she was little, and she and Daddy know that if I keep this up, they can stop running up to my crib at night to put my pacifier back in after I spit it out... With my thumb, I'll always be able to get it in my mouth myself!

Later that night while Mommy was nursing me before bed in my room, I kept switching back and forth between her and my thumb. I don't know if I'm a righty or a lefty yet because I was using both hands... I'm sure I'll have a preference sooner or later.
